Details

Antonio Lupi Design is a Tuscan company which has stood out in the design and manufacturing of bathroom furniture, both in Italy and abroad, for the past fifty years. The distinctive features of this ever-developing company are its ability to innovate by continuously searching for new materials and designs, while investing heavily in manufacturing technology.

Although Antonio Lupi began by producing exclusively bathroom accessories and mirrors, its product line now embraces the entire living space, thanks to the collaboration with established designers, such as Carlo Colombo, Nevio Tellatin, Riccardo Fattori, Mauro Carlesi, Domenico de Palo and Paolo Armenise.

Medea - Antonio Lupi shows the thinnest bath in the world, which is 12 mm thick; Medea is the new collection of baths made of Corian with tiny and light lines. Its square shape makes it be an element with a clean geometry, its smoothed edges soften its line by enhancing its soft shapes.

Its thickness makes Medea look like a folded foil and let even the structural minimalism, which characterizes it, show. Medea is much lighter than other similar items made of the same material. It is available in several shapes and sizes as well as in the free-standing version with elements allowing its leaning to the wall.

Antonio Lupi’s ten-year experience in using this material allowed to take lines to extremes. A painstaking work of joints and gluing allows to give this bath an excellent structural toughness despite its weak and light look. Therefore the “structural minimalism" is apparent only, resulting from the mastery of the material. It is available in a huge range of shapes and dimensions following the philosophy also applied to other products made of Corian.

Antonio Lupi

Antoniolupi was born in the ‘50’s from intuition and patience of Antonio Lupi who managed to transform a small workshop to manufacture glass into an industrial reality that already in the ‘60’s took over 5.000 square meters in Stabbia, a small town in the province of Florence.

Geared towards the bathroom from the beginning, he distinguished himself on the Italian and International markets for the quality, attention to detail and tailor made production. Antonio had immediately understood the “secret” of a product made in Italy: industrial dimension to cope with emerging markets, immaculate workmanship made by a highly skilled workforce as well as another wining characteristic: orders shipped with speed and precision…basically what we might call the corporate DNA.

Another insight of Antonio was to create the “total look” for the bathroom, not only furniture, mirrors and accessories but also mats, towels and even bathrobes.

The ‘70’s were important years: more staff, expanding sales and distribution, creation of permanent exhibitions and International markets.
During the second half of the ’80’s Antonio’s children enter the company, Andrea, Nello and Patrizia (later on also the youngest, Sergio will enter) and this marks the
turning point towards design and collaboration with architects and well known designers. During the ‘90’s the company created innovative collections that anticipated the trend of transforming the bathroom into a wellness area, the pivot of a modern home. At this point the company decides to participate at the Salone del Mobile Milano 2000 with the Aleacollection, the first bathroom furniture manufacturer to do so.

The decade 2000-2010 is a plethora of proposals: signature pieces come about like the Barrel sink, the Baìa, the Biblio and the Talamo bathtub as well as the Panta Rei, Planeta and Lunaria collections. The company participates in trade shows around the world as well as in the most important International events. In 2001 an innovative project introduces the Corian material into the bathroom with articles like Slot sinks, Calide bathtubs and Slab shower pans. The collaboration with established designers expands but also with young designers through contests organized by the company and the art world opens its doors with the project “vascabarca”, the production is later enhanced with mats and accessories. Showrooms around the world begin to open like Milano, Chicago, Miami and Munich. Fireplaces are developed: the idea is to transform the bathroom into the most important room in the house, a place to greet, the hamman of the West.

In 2007 following the founders death, the company logo is revised recalling its original. To raise awareness of its products, advertising in the most prestigious
furnishings journals increases all over the world.

A guarantee of top quality is antoniolupi’s long-standing mission. Precision manufacturing, high-quality raw materials and attention to details mark each step of the production process. This strategy has firmly placed antoniolupi as a world-class leader in the design and manufacturing of top-quality, modern bathroom furniture, fireplaces and living room elements.
Still a family-owned firm, antoniolupi also boasts deep territorial roots. Around 200 artisans and suppliers, most of them from Tuscany, are involved in the company production chain. The company has chosen tailor-made production over mass production in order to meet all sorts of requirements and to offer unlimited options for customisation.

The production of complements and bathroom furniture still constitutes a major activity for the company as evidenced by the large area of the plant dedicated to it. The collections are updated continuously, the materials become lighter and at the same time more resistant, the profiles becomes thinner, almost to disappear. From wall cabinets to sink units, from high cabinets to the integrated cabinets; each element integrates into a coherent project of the bathroom and contributes to determine the identity together with the elements of greatest impact as sinks, bathtubs and toilets. Like all production also furniture is made to order with extreme attention to detail. There is not any stock of furniture, each order contains a specific project and it is different from any other. Once ready, each order is immediately prepared for shipment.

Customer care and the vast range of collections available have always formed a winning combination for antoniolupi, and its ownership is committed to continue in this direction.
